3 L’s that’s Really Holding You Back from reaching your goals
It’s a rare of a brand or business owner who—at some point—doesn’t feel stuck.
Either you begin to experience burnout, or you aren’t reaching your goals and can’t seem to get past the income plateau you’ve found yourself on.
It’s a normal part of starting your business…
…but staying there isn’t.
Successful small business owners figure out how to overcome the hurdles and overwhelm and continue to grow their business. And the first step is to determine what exactly is holding you back.
Here are the 3L’s to consideration:
1. Lack of Clarity
When you don’t really know what it is you want from your business, you’re experiencing a lack of clarity.
Maybe you aren’t clear on who you’re meant to serve, or can’t quite envision your product or service funnel yet. Or maybe you can’t picture your podcast or music playing on Spotify, Apple music or Google play.
Trust me… with the pray, a plan, and God approval, it is very well possible.
Heck, I’m a published podcaster so you can for sure be one also.
But, seriously these are all symptoms of a lack of clarity, and they can stop you dead in your tracks every. Make you feel helpless and confused. But, guess what. If you got this far in reading OBVIOUSLY you’re not that helpless, nor confused.
If you’re suffering from a lack of clarity, take a step back and do some brainstorming (brain dumping and writing for clarity) to get everything out on paper where you can see it. This alone has helped me get my and keep my plans in order. Keep up with new ideas. Writing for clarity can help you detoxify your mind from confusion and get crystal clear on what your next steps are.
2. Lack of Focus
You’ve brain dumped and written it all out but now you’re having trouble moving forward…consistently.
Well then my friend a lack of focus might be your dilemma. You head to work or your office each morning with purpose, but by lunch it’s clear you haven’t accomplished anything you set out to do. You work on your business but find every excuse to stop. You get one step further and instead of asking for help or hiring… you get distracted by trying to do yet another B task. Instead of focusing on money making activities.
You’re not a bad person, or even a poor business owner. You just have trouble focusing on the next step that needs to happen to make your dreams come true.
Try this: With your end goal in mind, brainstorm the next physical action you need to take to achieve it. So if your goal is to get your music or podcast streaming on major platforms. Maybe it’s to finally have consistent sales in your business. Maybe it’s to grow your social media following and finding new ways to become visible. Either way if you don’t buckle down, make a plan a focus, how will you accomplish anything.
3. Lack of Excitement
Here we go!
Bored or Over thinking? Which one?
Yea yea yea… I get it. I promise I do. It is totally scary thinking about all the things you need to do to grow your business but, if you never start my friend…. You will never get there so don’t worry about having fun doing it.
So you lost interest in this ‘lil thing you once loved? This is, unfortunately, pretty common among new business owners and solo-preneurs. It is def happened to me. Several times!
That’s why we see so many people jumping from business to business, never spending enough time in any one endeavor to see it through to success. This alone gives serial entrepreneur a new name and identity lol.
This will not be you though.
Because staying excited about your business starts with having a dream that keeps you going even when you’re faced with the day-to-day foolishness (as I like to call it) that every other small business owner encounters. Don’t believe me? Ask a business owner you know about the issues they had starting their brand or businesses. I can bet 9 out 10… there will be some stories.
Not everything is fun when you’re running a business, but if you keep your “why” in mind, it can help you get past the rough spots. JUST LIKE A MARRIAGE.
To be honest… I actually think learning more about my self and my business is pretty fun. Maybe it’s just me but dull spots or not, please ENJOY the ride and count it all joy.
Now let’s get your life together frfr.
You want to know how to easily fix all these issues (and more)?
It’s a simple trick that the world’s most successful entrepreneurs have been using for decades: vision boards. I have 2 of them (don’t judge me... lol)
These can be a fun and colorful tool and just what you need to clarify your dreams, work out your next steps, and stay excited about your brand or business moves.
Vision boards can be as simple as a few images clipped from a magazine and pinned to a corkboard, a customized pinterest board, or as complex as a framed poster with hand-lettered quotes and personal inspiration. The choice is really yours. I’ve even created and saved photo albums in my phone for a specific goal or plan. It’s completely personal, super fun, and best of all, it works! Visualization and gratitude (or excitement) will help you to stay focused and manifest what you want and dream of. Give it a try next time you’re feeling stuck in your business! Or, go ahead and try it now.
